To the south of the Parc du Marais Poitevin, at its very limit, we find the village of Courçon and its fortified-style church, modified over time. Zoom on a village in Aunis and its bustling market.
At the gates of the Marais Poitevin
A lively village around the main square, with its shops and local farmers' markets every week.
In summer, night markets are held there once a month. We stop first on the atypical church, and its bell tower worthy of a medieval dungeon. The battlements which adorn it, far from dating from the Middle Ages, are in fact the result of a reworking of the beginning of the XNUMXth century.
Then we walk in its alleys, along the dry stone walls decorated with hollyhocks. After a stop on the terrace at the Café des Marronniers, head for the Courçon flour mill, visible from the outside, -why not by bike?- taking the circuit "from hillsides to marshes".
Adjoining the village, the forest of Benon offers magnificent walks in the heart of nature.
