Designed as part of the “Loti year”, this photographic exhibition highlights Julien Viaud alias Pierre Loti, as a naval officer and witness to the technical transformations of naval forces in the 19th century.

Pierre Loti's life and military career are presented on the Rochefort Arsenal website through chronological and thematic sections. Portraits taken at different times of his life are placed next to the ships on which he carried out his various missions as a naval officer. This crossing also makes it possible to evoke the technical changes of the Navy in the 19th century and, more specifically, those of the arsenal of Rochefort at this same time, which saw the birth of the travel writer.

Photographic exhibition set up in the courtyard of the museum.
Extension until July 1, 2024.
