Courçon is a commune in the south-west of France located in the department of Charente-Maritime.
Its inhabitants are called the Courçonnais and the Courçonnaises.

It is part of the community of commune Aunis Atlantique (capital of the canton since 2014: MARANS) Courçon is one of the gateways to the Regional Natural Park of the Marais Poitevin
Its area is 19.11 Km².

The village takes its name from the small stream of Son (or Çon). The sentence: “the village where the sound runs” will give the name “Courçon” to the village.

2 of the 4 gymnasiums managed by the CDC Aunis Atlantique are located in the town of Courçon near the municipal stadium of Courçon and the outdoor communal swimming pool (open to the public in summer)
A playground for young children and a city stadium were installed in 2018 near the stadium.
The CMJ (municipal youth council) has also allowed the installation of a fitness trail in the woods of rue de la Garenne to the west of the village.
