Today we put on sneakers, we take a backpack and a bottle of water, and we go to discover a small village in the Marais Poitevin near our home. It's a beautiful spring day ahead and the whole family is delighted to enjoy the great outdoors.

We park in the car park, place de l'église, opposite the town hall. We take the time to walk around this beautiful XNUMXth century church and look at the flowerbeds that surround it. Then, you pass in front of the café then in front of the garage and you make a sharp right turn onto rue des Groies. We go up the street following the stone walls to the new housing estate on the left.

The mad garden

We cross this subdivision and a little further on we arrive at a communal garden called the Jardin en folie.

The scent of aromatic plants tickles our nostrils, we watch the bees bustling about in the flowers and the passionate volunteers happily explain to us how to repot the tomato plants.

We continue the walk by turning left on the rue du Grand Moulin then we enter the small Rue du Four and the passage du Quereu. Arrived at the end, we go up the rue de la Paix until the exit of the village. A little before the exit sign, turn left towards the locks. Here we are out of the village, in the middle of the fields. The farmers pick up the recently cut grass, it's a real spectacle that unfolds before our amazed eyes: buzzards, seagulls and even storks watch for the little field mice and form a real ball. In front of us is a parade of tractors that will delight the little ones.

A little further on, you cross a bridge and then you finally arrive at the locks, the junction of the Curé and Marans canals. There, we cross the bridge and we silently observe the many fishermen on both sides of the shore. The curious little ones slowly approach the edge to try to see zander or pike. We also see several bicycles passing by because we are on the route of a cycle route, the famous Vélodyssée.

The organic farm of Eggs of Yesteryear

We then retrace our steps on the other side of the railway and continue on the path which leads into the meadows to join a wider path. We arrive at the Œufs d'Antan organic farm, where nearly 1 little hens welcome us, cackling happily. The sale is closed for today but you can find their eggs on the market in the neighboring town of Saint-Ouen d'Aunis on Sunday morning.

After saying a last goodbye to the pullets, continue straight on to the cemetery then turn right on rue du Cimetière to the municipal library located behind the church. Here, we once again take advantage of the flowerbeds laid out with various aromatic herbs and then sit in the grass at the foot of the church to enjoy the spring sun and a well-deserved good snack!
