To the south of Surgères, in the commune of La Devise, lies the charming village of Vandré. Labeled "Station Verte", Vandré is typical of the most beautiful villages in our countryside.

Here, the tranquility is disturbed only by the chirping of the birds: what we offer you is a beneficial stopover, a real break out of time.

Charm and old stones

We first discover with astonishment its church, so tall and imposing for a small village. It has a fortified chamber of refuge, which was accessed through the bell tower. Take a look at the unexpected little door at the bottom of it. At the foot of the Saint-Vivien church, a washhouse with old charm and its source. Of the two original castles, only the entrance porch of Haut Vandré remains today. A museum behind the town hall bears witness to the life of our countryside in the past. Stroll through this charming village, lose yourself in its narrow streets before walking or cycling the Sources circuit. To the south of Vandré, the banks of the Etang de la Grève offer a relaxing break for walkers. It is also a fishing site appreciated by amateurs.

The opinion of the local counter

We like to discover this village in a fun way, with a route made by children, for children (and adults with a child's soul!). Thanks to the clues scattered all over the village, we learn a little more about the history, heritage and architecture. The printed version is to be picked up at our local counter in Surgères!
