Convention Center Haute-Saintonge

The Haute-Saintonge Congress Center is a 2017 achievement of the Commune Community. It is located in Jonzac, in the south of Charente-Maritime, at the gates of the Bordeaux metropolis, near the Atlantic beaches, Cognac and Périgord.

Chief town of the district, the city of Jonzac is also the 7th French spa resort. It is appreciated for the richness of its heritage (medieval city, in the heart of the great Cognac vineyard), its environment (Station Verte, Ville Fleurie) and its many activities.
Ideally built in the heart of the ZAC du Val de Seugne dedicated to leisure activities, the Congress Center is a place of life and exchanges, suitable for hosting major events but also a workplace particularly suited to public events. businesses and business tourism.


The Haute-Saintonge Convention Center was awarded at the "Building of the year 2018" ceremony in the "Public Facilities" category.

An exceptional environment:
In its immediate area are located: the hotel residences of the "Pierre et Vacances" chains (72 apartments of the T2 and T3 type) and "Vacances bleues" (90 rentals, from studios to T3), a summer leisure center offering multiple outdoor activities, with navigable body of water, swimming area, tree climbing, climbing wall, skate ramp, an energy house (educational place for exchanging experiences in renewable energies) , two mills in operation, one of which has a museum area, a casino and the vast water park complex of the Antilles de Jonzac with its sports platform, its fitness area, its lagoon, its beaches and its tropical greenhouse which records its own more than 400 annual admissions alone. The ZAC offers numerous parking possibilities including 000 spaces specific to the Congress Centre.

The building:
Designed by the Nantes architecture firm Tétrarc, the building, with futuristic lines, evokes a monolith of flint. A nod to history, or rather prehistory since right here, in Pinaud's rock shelter, 50 years ago, Neanderthal man cut his stones, to make weapons or tools…
The building marries the sensitive features of the Val de Seugne landscape. To the north, it is embedded in the valley. To the south, the emerging volume of the building reveals a luminous distribution gallery which culminates around the theatre, the centerpiece of the composition.
In accordance with the commitment of the Community of Communes for energy transition, it meets the requirements of saving and promoting local energy. The whole (4m²) is heated and cooled by geothermal energy. Designed to meet the comfort needs of the public, artists and local residents, it can be adapted to any type of event thanks to its versatile equipment and modularity. It is completely modern, even at the forefront of today's performance halls.
The Haute-Saintonge Convention Center has been nominated for the award of "Building of the year 2018".

The great gallery:
Public access is via this single point which serves the three reservation spaces. This large 600 m² hall, with dynamic volumes, is bathed in natural light. There is the general reception desk, the ticket office, two cloakrooms and the bar. This ambulatory stages the frequentation of the equipment: it is in turn the place of regrouping, of relaxation around a drink. It can also be used as an extension area of ​​the agora for a trade show or exhibition or as a catering area...

The seminar area:
With a total area of ​​374 m², it is organized on two levels in the western sector of the building. Entirely glazed, its 6 rooms benefit from beautiful light and the exterior decor of the working face covered with vegetation. As the partitions are modular, they can expand as needed to accommodate up to 130 people.

The Agora:
The large multifunction room in "Event" or "Show" configuration, welcomes participants to a company convention, a symposium or a congress, comfortably seated on an unfolded bleacher with 572 seats (including 13 PMR). A floor of 156 additional seats can be added facing the generous stage.
In the "Reception" configuration, the retractable tiers are stored in the compartment provided for this purpose. With a total area of ​​715m², the fully vacated room reaches the capacity of 1 people standing. It can then be suitable for trade shows, exhibitions, parades, meeting forums, debate evenings, celebrations of all kinds or even for catering. Large curtains contribute to acoustic comfort while allowing, if necessary, to conceal the opening onto the decor of a limestone step, a small open-air theatre.

The auditorium theater:
The Theater Auditorium, with a capacity of 508 seats (including 17 PMR), offers a refined setting for high quality events and equipment adapted to the vocation of a congress centre. Waves of twisted rattan, lining the walls and ceilings, constitute an exceptional decor. This device conceals the footbridges and their lighting and ensures the fine adjustment of the acoustics while providing the view with a decor in osmosis with the comfort and opulent atmosphere of the seats.
The room is designed as an enveloping shell. Its non-symmetrical shape is designed to meet acoustic requirements. It has three translation booths. Each seat is equipped with a retractable table.

Technical spaces:
In the acoustic scheme, they constitute a sound buffer between the agora and the auditorium.
On the ground floor, there are kitchens, workshop, areas for receiving deliveries and storing equipment, backstage and rear access to the 2 stages. The floor houses the area reserved for artists: 7 dressing rooms with toilets, including a collective one, a relaxation area opening onto the coal face, a restaurant and entertainment room.
