Hiking circuit - around the Sèvre

A beautiful walk in the wet marsh, between the Sèvre and the Vix canal.

1. Take the Sablon bridge crossing the Sèvre (you pass through Vendée) and follow the D 25B lined with canals and shaded. Take the first small road on the right.

2. On the bend, continue on a grassy path (“the chain boat is over there”) and cross the canal (chain boat or footbridge).

3. After the bridge follow the edge of the Sèvre to the right. Reach the pier then cross the town centre. Take the D 25 towards Vix. At the statue of the
Virgin, follow rue de la Bougraine on the right. At the last house, turn left onto a path lined with elms and hawthorns (covered spring “la Fontaine rouillée”). Join the aqueduct on the left. Go over the dam and follow the path on the levee alongside the Vix canal.

4. Continue on the levee (Digue de la Bougraine) to the Pont de Vix (3 km).

5. At the Pont de Vix, take the D25 on the left towards the Pont des Sablons.
