As you visit Marans, you will inevitably pass by the covered market and its small streets. And if you're lucky, you'll pass by an unmissable gourmet break in the city: Le Petit Bouchot.
This establishment, taken over by Sébastien Guillaud at the beginning of 2023 in collaboration with his son Jonathan, has reopened its doors to the delight of the Marandais. With a plus, namely the work philosophy of the owner of the establishment, also playing the role of chef and sole cook.
Indeed, in this restaurant, the word cuisine takes on its full meaning. Only fresh, processed and local products in the vast majority; a menu reworked regularly according to arrivals & seasons; creativity in the dishes; and all at a more than affordable price for the quantity of work carried out.
This quality of truly “homemade” work is what pushes this cooking enthusiast to open his doors to customers every day; and this is inevitably felt when the service starts up. Because whether or not you are one of those undecided people who have difficulty choosing their menu, the explanations and advice from the Guillaud family about their menu will always be fair and honest. I personally saw myself make a 180° turn in my choice of dish after a few words exchanged with Jonathan, and without any regrets, quite the contrary!
Add to that an atmosphere and friendly exchanges, you will quickly understand that the term “house” is not limited to the plate. Because this is the general atmosphere that Sébastien wants to give to his establishment, “like at home”. And as you might have guessed, the bet largely paid off.
Whether you are just passing through or looking for your new favorite restaurant, you cannot ignore this establishment located a few meters from the market.
