Newly arrived in Saint Sauveur and a passionate locavore, I went to discover the producer store Les Fermiers du Marais Poitevin in Ferrières. I unearthed yoghurts and dairy desserts from the Ferme du Bois des Moines, a real delight!

Chocolate, vanilla, caramel, coffee… I have tasted almost all of them! Be careful, the dessert creams from the Ferme du Bois des Moines are addictive! They are richly flavored and not too sweet. If you are more into yogurt, you will also find something to treat you, several flavors are available for sale: plain, vanilla, lemon (my favorite!). For the greediest, there is also rice pudding and fromage blanc.

Made from udder to pot on the farm!

Pierre-Henri DUBOIS raises with passion 60 cows: 45 Brunes des Alpes, 5 Fleckvieh and 10 Prim'Holstein, on 90 hectares in Benon, including 25 in the marshes. The milk is processed on the farm by Camille, according to the very precise specifications of the Invitation à la ferme network. An essential condition for being part of this network, the farm has been conducted in organic farming since 2017.

The cows are from mid-March to mid-November in the fields, grazing the green grass of the Benon fields. Pierre-Henri is very vigilant about the genetics of his herd, he works in dynamic pasture and is attentive to the carbon footprint of his breeding as well as the eco-score of his products.

Where to find these good products?

The will of Pierre-Henri DUBOIS is to work in short circuits and locally. In the area, it is possible to find its products in various stores: Les Fermiers du Marais Poitevin in Ferrières or Leclerc in Surgères. It is also present in those of La Rochelle, Saint-Martin de Ré and Royan. Some schoolchildren and college students in the area are lucky enough to eat it in the canteen, such as in Courçon or Surgères.

Come to the farm!

During the spring and summer holidays, on Tuesdays, it is possible to come and have a snack at the farm and enjoy a guided tour by the master of the place. You will spend a memorable moment there, alongside a passionate man who loves his job and his cows. Register at one of our reception desks in Surgères or Marans (05 46 01 12 10).
