Come and discover Lucile Boulanger's classical music recital at the Notre Dame de Surgères church

Lucile Boulanger began playing the viola da gamba with Christine Plubeau at the age of 5 and continued her studies with Ariane Maurette, Jérôme Hantaï and finally Christophe Coin at the CNSMD in Paris. She is the winner of several international prizes (Bach-Abel competition in Köthen, Società Umanitaria in Milan or Musica Antiqua in Bruges, etc.). Highly in demand as a chamber musician, she performs and records with numerous European ensembles. Furthermore, she frequently performs in recitals, in France and abroad.

Here she performs her first solo recital. The French gambist whose accuracy and emotion everyone praises – BBC Music Magazine even called her the “Jacqueline du Pré of the viola da gamba” – draws parallels between Bach and Carl Friedrich Abel, great master of the viola da gamba. viol and very close to the Bach family. Although Jean-Sébastien never wrote for the viola da gamba alone, we know that he transcribed many of his works for several instruments. Lucile Boulanger, for example, chose to transcribe three dances from the Sixth Suite, “because it sounds particularly good on the viol since it is written for five-string cello. It is in D, the key of the viol par excellence, and its already somewhat gallant style is reminiscent of Abel's. (…) This album gives me the opportunity to make the viol heard as both a melodic instrument – with the grain of the bow, the fragility of the sound – but also polyphonic. »

“Lucile B takes us with her to a time where only the grace of a thrill, the offering of amazement count” Diapason d’or
