Theatrical and musical show, based on The Years of Annie Ernaux (Éditions Gallimard)
En Compagnie des Barbares offers you a journey through the last sixty years through the words of Annie Ernaux, clear and incisive, and the music that marked the changes of era and mores: from Bourvil to the Doors, from the Yéyés to Queen, from the birth of RAP to electronic music.
Two actors from two generations tell us a story of musical and playful France: Eliot Saour was six years old on September 11, 2001 and Karine Monneau, just 1 year old in May 68. Around a table of time, between music and words, radio cassettes and vinyls, they also come out of their hats: Formica tables, family meals, toilets in the courtyard, revolutions, dog beds, tonic gym sessions, cell phones, buildings that collapse and converse for quadra.
The memory of things and sounds, of struggles and events, gives us our place in the world and sheds light on our present, which is sometimes so difficult to grasp.
