Come and attend this film conference “THE AGE OF WALK – En route vers Compostelle”, a film by Élise and Louis-Marie Blanchard.
Forget your schedules, your hierarchies and your worries, confront the vagaries of the weather and the unknown of encounters.
This film first travels the Via Arverna, a little-used route to Rocamadour, through Auvergne and Quercy, then joins the famous Camino Francès, a major route which takes pilgrims from the Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela. Feeling your body, entering a landscape, rubbing shoulders with the elements: walking long distance means forgetting your schedules, your hierarchies and your worries, confronting yourself with the vagaries of the weather and the unknown of encounters. It is also having the time and the availability of mind to question ourselves: who are we, what do we want, what does life mean to us?
As early as the 11th century, pilgrims from all over Europe made their way to Santiago. The current success of this pilgrimage is therefore not so much a fashion effect, but rather its rediscovery by a society in search of meaning.
