Escape to the heart of Green Venice and let yourself be carried away by the magic of the marshes.
The Autize Pier, your ideal starting point to discover the Green Venice and its hidden treasures. Created in 1988, this pier, located in the heart of the wet Marias, offers you an authentic and peaceful immersion, far from the usual tourist centers. Here, nature reigns supreme, and each walk transports you into a maze of preserved marshes.
Walk with boat guide
The traditional boats, called "plates", are the emblem of the Green Venice. Our boat guides, true enthusiasts, will transport you back in time, using the "pigouille" to move the boats forward. They will tell you the history and traditions of this unique environment, while revealing the richness of the biodiversity that surrounds you. We also offer atypical trips, with early morning departures when the marsh wakes up, with or without breakfast, as well as trips at the end of the day to enjoy the last moments of tranquility on the water.
For good organization, reservation is obligatory for departures with boatman.
Rental of boats without guide and canoe
For those who prefer to go by boat independently, marked routes of 1 hour, 1 hour 30 minutes or 2 hours are available. These trips allow you to explore the marsh at your own pace, enjoying the calm and natural beauty of the region. The Embarcadère de l'Autize thus offers a flexible experience adapted to your desires for adventure or relaxation. For groups of 6 to 12 people, we also offer a treasure hunt, (by reservation only) a fun and entertaining activity to discover the marsh in a different way.
For those looking for a more dynamic adventure, the Embarcadère de l'Autize offers canoeing tours. Faster and further, canoes are perfect for exploring the most remote corners of the Marais Poitevin. A 3-hour circuit, far from other boats, crosses wild marshes and connects three picturesque hamlets. Whether you are a sports enthusiast or simply curious, this activity will allow you to discover nature from a different angle.
Outdoor dining and waterfront terrace
After a day of exploring, what could be better than eating outdoors? Enjoy our terrace where ice creams, drinks, tapas and typical brasserie dishes await you. We carefully select the quality and origin of our products to offer you simple and authentic dishes. You can sit comfortably and enjoy the exceptional natural setting while enjoying refreshments. For your family gatherings or work groups, we can also offer menus or sharing boards (by reservation).
Practical information
The Autize Pier is an easily accessible place, with parking nearby. You can enjoy our terrace even with a stroller or wheelchair, although access by boat is not possible in a wheelchair. There is also a picnic area nearby, ideal for extending your day in the great outdoors. We have also obtained the "Accueil Vélo" label, allowing you to go for a bike ride or hike directly from the pier. Maps are available to guide you through the magnificent landscapes of the South Vendée. Dogs are accepted on site.
